How your stay benefits the Kanyinya community

When you stay with us, and experience the hospitality of the Kanyinya community, your immediate neighbors are benefiting directly. Chantal Umuraza’s vision for Ishobe goes beyond providing a unique guest experience. Every detail is focused on providing local opportunities. In 2019, this land had just two small old buildings. Only a small section was cultivated. Everything you see was designed and built by men and women from the local community over the next five years, mostly by hand. Craftsmen skilled in traditional, artisanal techniques taught their apprentices. Our neighbors also learned how to install modern plumbing and electric infrastructure. All the ironwork was welded on site.

The farm employs over a dozen people, all of whom live within a kilometer of the property. In addition, the proceeds from the business directly support 14 households of nearly 70 people. We help with school fees, health insurance, and emergencies. While you are here, we would be happy to introduce you to our neighbors.
